5 Healthy bites to watch the FIFA World Cup

Crispy chickpea’s

Chickpeas are a good source of proteins, especially for people that don’t eat meat. A tasty way to eat them in front of the TV is by baking them in the oven. Pour a can of ready-made chickpeas in a bowl together with 1-2 spoons of olive oil, some spices and salt. Cover the bowl and shake it until the oil, spices and salt cover all the chickpeas. Place the chickpeas on a baking plate (preferably with bakery paper) and put it in the oven for 20 minutes. You’re free to choose the spices you like, I usually go for curry and pepper.

If you feel like something healthier and slight tastier - you can also buy dry chickpeas and boil them yourself until they’re soft but still crunchy. This will take some time.

Edamame

Edamame’s popularity is constantly increasing. Edamame is a dish of green soybeans boiled or steamed in their pods. In the supermarket you can find edamame in the section of fresh fruit and vegetables, or in the freezer. Boil or steam the defrosted pods for about 5 minutes, until they’re soft and open easily. An even faster preparation method is to microwave them in a bowl with some water for 1-5 minutes depending on the microwave power. When it’s ready, drain the water and add some salt.

If you want to make it more interesting and crispy you can put the edamame in the oven. Add some spices - for edamame garlic is a good choice - and bake in the oven for about 5 min in 200°.

Potato widgets

You can hardly call potato chips healthy, but when it comes out of the oven it’s really not that bad. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Choose small potatoes, wash them but don’t peel. Cut them in 4 long parts and boil them until they’re soft. Put the potatoes in a bowl together with 1-2 spoons of olive oil, herbs, spices and salt. You can experiment with all kinds of spices and herbs, my favorites are garlic, thyme and pepper. Cover the bowl and shake it thoroughly to spread the oil and spices equally over the potatoes.

Place the potatoes on a baking plate (preferably with bakery paper) and put it in the oven for 20 minutes.

Vegetables with white cheese (or quark) dip:

Cut some raw carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, cauliflower and other vegetables to your liking ; for the dip mix some spices with white cheese or quark. Be creative. I usually use curry, paprika and pepper.

Tomato skewers with basil

Pierce some cherry tomato, basil leaves and mozzarella balls on a skewer. It’s super simple and makes a pretty and tasty dish to serve your guests.
